A beautiful day at Pedernales SP

Today was just a beautiful day here in Texas. After a long day of driving to Houston for a visit with family and arriving back at the campground after midnight this morning, we were a bit tired. Once we got up and going, we decided a day out in the sunshine and some exercise were in order.

One of the great things about this area is that there is much to see. Today we picked Pedernales State Park about a 45 minute drive from our campground. This small out of the way SP is packed with fun (at least the kind we like :) Our main reason for going was to explore the falls. Even though there has been quite a bit of rain, the water level was low, which was a good thing. This area is known for flash flooding and the conditions can change rapidly.

The photo on the top is considered an average waterflow, the photo on the bottom is a photo taken five minutes (5) after the photo on the top was taken. Yes, that is how fast the conditions can change. So needless to say, I was on guard :)

If you are ever in the area, I would highly recommend this park, the campground is nice and was nearly full when we drove around it on our way out. We would like to return for some bike riding before we head further west at the beginning of the new year. Below are some photos we took while at the park.

The Christmas light photos are of a small park in the town of Blanco, TX. Many of the small towns we pass through around here are festively decorated like Blanco. Love it here....

I included a short slide show of pictures highlighting our past few days at the bottom of the blog.
